Ambrolauri/Tlugi

Plant Provenance

The Ambrolauri/Tlugi Forest District covers approximately 8,000 hectares of hills and mountains. About 20% of the trees in the district are Abies nordmanniana, primarily located on the lowest part of the north-facing slopes and in pure stands. The main harvest area extends from Lake Shaori at an altitude of 1,140 meters, about 5-6 kilometers towards the east and up the mountainside. While the forest extends to an altitude of 2,000 meters, only a few individuals of Abies nordmanniana thrive above 1,600 meters.
